Meet Our Management Team
Tony Bartenetti – Executive Vice President, Nelson Staffing
Tony joined Nelson in May of 1998 as our Regional Sales Manager in the South Bay. After only six months, he was promoted to Regional Vice President for three of our branches and became Vice President for the Southern Region in 2002. In 2006, Tony was promoted to Senior Vice President of the Nelson Staffing division. During his tenure he has been recognized with two Gary D. Nelson Leadership Awards for his outstanding strength in leadership and management.
Prior to joining Nelson, Tony spent thirteen years with the companies that make up Apria Healthcare, in the home health care industry. When he left to join Nelson, he was Region Sales Manager for a $68 million territory and managed eighteen sales representatives in a four-state region. In 1996 he received their National Leadership Award. Tony has a B.S. in Business Administration from University of San Francisco.
Donna Farrugia – Chief Executive Officer
As CEO of the Nelson Family of Companies, Donna Farrugia provides strategic direction for all arms of the Nelson Family of Companies, including Nelson Staffing, Nelson & Associates, Nelson Technology, NelsonJobs.com, HRhome, and iWorkGlobal.
Donna Farrugia joined Nelson as the Chief Executive Officer in August, 2013. As CEO of one of the largest independent staffing companies in the Unites States, Farrugia focuses her efforts on keeping the company at the forefront of an ever-expanding market. With more than 30 years of marketing, business development and management experience, she was most recently one of a few executive directors at Robert Half. In that capacity, Farrugia successfully managed strategy and operations for The Creative Group, the brand that specializes in interactive, creative and marketing solutions. She spent the prior ten years with Robert Half as Sr. Vice President, building an award-winning field team for both Consulting and Professional Staffing Services.
Prior to Robert Half, Farrugia spent sixteen years in the Imaging and Information industry. Three of those were as Global Manager of Service Business Development for 3M/Imation Corp—the multi-billion dollar diversified, high-tech spin-off of 3M Corp—where she concentrated on creating a new, competitive service and support infrastructure for the company. Before that, thirteen years were spent with Eastman Kodak, where Farrugia ascended to the role of Western Zone Director for Kodak’s outsourcing services.
A sought-after presenter for industry events such as the HOW Design Conference, the American Advertising Federation National Conference and the American Marketing Association’s International Collegiate Conference, Farrugia has also delivered webinars for the American Advertising Federation and Graphic Artists Guild, and has contributed articles on career-related topics to various publications. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, with a minor emphasis in systems analysis, operations research, accounting and psychology.
Gary D. Nelson – Founder
With his wealth of experience in all aspects of the human resources industry, Gary Nelson is considered an expert in the workforce management business and continues to explore new avenues to enhance relationships with clients and candidates. Gary’s keen grasp of prevailing economic and business trends has enabled him to lead Nelson Staffing to its position as the leader in providing comprehensive service and software solutions to the workforce management marketplace.
A graduate of San Jose State University with advanced work in industrial relations, Gary worked ten years in Human Resources before founding his own company in 1970. Prior to founding Nelson, he was associated with Data Technology Corporation, Fairchild Semiconductor, American Optical Corporations’ Analytical Instrument Division, Marin General Hospital and the California State Personnel Board.
